Indulge yourself with this delicious and decadently rich shrimp recipe cooked in spicy crab sauce. Yet another quick and easy recipe to love!

chili garlic prawns

If you have read and tried the recipe from my old post for Pasta Aligue, you should know by now how good Aligue or 'crab fat' is, but also that it should be taken in moderation. But indulging oneself once in a while should be (more than) fine.

But this shrimp in chili crab sauce is simply a must-try. It is very easy to make, done in less than ten minutes, but definitely packs a lot of flavors. Slightly sweet and savory loaded with garlicky goodness with a little spicy take.

About the ingredients...

Shrimp - you can use fresh whole shrimp or even the frozen ones that are shelled and headless. Both will work great.

Crab Fat - or Aligue or taba ng Talangka in Filipino refers to the orange paste that is made up of the tomalley and roe of a crab. It is considered a delicacy that is normally used to flavor other dishes but can also be just mixed with steamed rice. It is normally sold in jars or canned cooked with some spices.

Ketchup - you can use tomato ketchup but banana ketchup, which is more common and available in the Philippines, will also do.

Fish Sauce adds saltiness to this dish and gives it or any dish that extra umami flavor that you cannot get from salt. But this is optional.

If you do not have chili flakes, you may also use chili powder, chili sauce, or sriracha. Just adjust the amount depending on how spicy you like it to be.

Sprite/7-Up - it is not in the image above as it is optional. But adding a little enhances the natural sweetness of the shrimp meat. You can replace it with white wine if you like.

Hi, I would like to try your recipes because they are not complicated and look yummy. However, I do not have measuring cups. I wanna know the equivalent of cups in grams. I look over the internet and gives me different measurements. Thank you.
